Encourages a love of words, language, and reading.Stimulates imagination and creative thinking. ![]() Stories have a way of bonding families, don’t they? But did you know that telling stories also have all kinds of educational benefits? Storytelling helps: I loved hearing the preschooler’s story when I did storytime at the library. Given a little encouragement, preschoolers will tell you about their favorite book, what they did with grandma, and the time Dad dropped something heavy on his foot and said a bad word! Their eyes light up when they find a story that they love and that just adds to the excitement and fun. I’m sure that you have also noticed how much preschoolers love telling stories. One of my boy’s favorite activities was reading a book together. If your kids like reading about Pig and Trevor’s goofy antics, then they’ll probably love following story time playing with Pig and Trevor paper bag puppets. The author, Aaron Blabey has written 9 humorous books in this series, with the latest one being a Halloween version called Pig the Monster. ![]() The books are generally appropriate for ages 3-6, though sometimes the humor (which can be a little dark at times) feels like it might be appropriate for slightly older children. Pig’s gross facial expressions and both dogs’ body language can be pretty funny. ![]() Most of the humor is in the illustrations. Pig can be rude, obnoxious, greedy and lazy, but he always gets his comeuppance and generally redeems himself. I have no idea how I missed Pig and Trevor - two hilarious puppy pals.
